Cassandra Gomez

ABOUT ME

I am going to make everything around me beautiful - that will be my life."

Elsie de Wolfe
Cassandra "Cassie" Gomez was born and raised in North Richland Hills, Texas, a suburb of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. She grew up loving the environment and all the creatures that inhabit it. All through her educational career she has searched to find a connection between people and the living world that surrounds us. From joining environmental awareness clubs in middle school, to volunteer organizations in high school, and finally landing on a natural resources focus in college, Cassie has always had a foot in the door of spreading awareness. Networking is a passion of hers. She aims to dive into a career that allows for her to work in the natural environment and educate the public about the world they live in. She loves the common saying in the agricultural and natural resource industry that "despite the name of our field, we're in the people business," and what a time to be in it. Cassie is a first generation landowner and has a small acreage ranch up in the Texas Panhandle. She loves reading, writing, arts & crafts, watching hockey and Formula 1 racing, CrossFit, horseback riding, and travelling the world.

In 2022, Cassandra received her Bachelor of Science degree in Rangeland Ecology and Management with a Ranch Management emphasis from Texas A&M University. After she graduated, Cassie had a short term teaching high school Algebra 1 before taking the opportunity to attend graduate school at her alma mater, Texas A&M. Under the USDA Climate Hub Fellowship program, Cassie pursued a Master of Natural Resources in Natural Resources Development. Her projects were focused on the utilization of prescribed fire and wildfires, alternative energy focused on solar and wind, and conducting bird surveys for wildlife management. She worked alongside fellows from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Oklahoma State University under this grant, and expanded her network. Cassie is now a high school biology and environmental science teacher, who strives to educate not only her students, but her community in the world they inhabit.
From the outside looking in you can't understand it, and from the inside looking out you can't explain it."
